Chief has partnered with Proper Hotels to give members two elevated new gathering places — Santa Monica Proper and Downtown LA Proper — for the work, the wins, and everything in between.

Every month, Chief hosts a member event at both properties — a standing invitation to show up, connect, and be part of something bigger.

Open spaces across both properties are available daily for meetings, co-working, and smaller gatherings.

The Proper Concierge team is on hand across both locations to help members navigate the property — from finding the right space to arranging the details that make a meeting or gathering run smoothly.

Members get complimentary access to up to 14 fitness classes a week at Santa Monica Proper — yoga, pilates, sound baths, and more. Because the best ideas rarely happen sitting still.

Planning something bigger? Chief members save 50% on room rental for private event spaces — perfect for meetings, celebrations, and gatherings that deserve more than a conference room.

And that's not all

Take care of you. On a rolling basis, Chief invites a handful of its members to access a limited number of Proper Club Passes, unlocking additional complimentary amenities like wellness facilities, pool, and gym access.   • How many Chief events will be held at each Proper Location?

    Starting August 1, Chief will host a minimum of two events each month—one at Santa Monica Proper and one at Downtown LA Proper. Programming will include a mix of Chief-exclusive member events and select co-branded experiences.

  • How will I identify myself as a Chief at Proper?

    Chief Members can display their profile picture within the Chief app to validate their Chief membership and member benefits starting August 1.

  • How do I reserve a meeting and event space?

    Starting August 1, Chief Members will have general access to Proper Santa Monica and Downtown locations.

    As a Chief Member, if you would like to book a private meeting room and event space, you can contact the Proper Concierge team at [email protected].

  • How do I get in touch with Proper Concierge for anything else I might need?

    Starting August 1, from 8am to 7pm, Chief Members can text or email Proper Concierge for daily needs.

  • How do I park at Proper locations?

    Valet is available onsite for $28.

  • Are there Proper discounts and preferred pricing for Chief Members?

    Meeting and event spaces will be available with a 50% discount on room rental, while at Palma and Calabra at Santa Monica Proper, and Cara Cara and Caldo Verde at Downtown LA Proper, there’ll be a 15% savings on food and beverage by showing your Chief app.

    You’ll receive 15% savings on the Ammortal Chamber experiences and Red Light Therapy treatments at Santa Monica Proper. Proper’s weekly fitness programming is complimentary.

  • How do I access room savings at Proper?

    Starting August 1, Chief Members can access room savings through Proper Insiders. Sign up here (https://www.properhotel.com/proper-insider/), and your member rate will be reflected automatically when you book at any Proper property.

  • Can Chief Members bring guests to the Proper?

    Yes, Chief Members can bring guests to the hotel property. However they are not allowed in the fitness classes or Proper programming unless otherwise stated.

  • Is this a long-term deal or will it be evaluated after a period of time?

    The Proper partnership, starting in August is a one-year agreement that we'll continue to evolve with your feedback.

  • What became of the member-initiated search for an alternative to closing the Clubhouse?

    We are grateful to the many Chiefs who volunteered their energy, their time, and their expertise to evaluate cost-sharing opportunities as a potential alternative to closing the LA Clubhouse. After exploring a range of ideas, there was not a viable option that would meet our needs, and Chief will transition out of the Clubhouse by July 31, 2026.

  • How will we maintain community for Chiefs at Proper?

    Community presence and community building will always be a core focus of ours. Chief has never been one room, or one city, or one fixed point on the map. It has always been a community that moves with you, shows up for you where you are, and grows stronger every time we gather. We will continue to work to drive the community within Proper and within the greater LA community.
